Suffocation - ... of the Dark Light (2017)

Long Island based band Suffocation needs no introductions. Legends of the genre they built basic for what we now call technicall brutal death metal and they still reprezent the modern form of this music. Recently they released a new album called "… of The Dark Light". Let's have a little look.

The new stuff continues to evolve sound and style approach they managed to create on their "Pinnacle Of Bedlam" album. Hard and brutal sound, great melodies and still asskicking vocal of their vocalist Frank Mullen, this material is great to listen. When the coverart was released, many fans have been discussing about its appropriety to their musical style. No need to doubt that it is very atmosferic. So is the music.

The album starts in high speed like the previous did and we hear some serious brutal conceptual death metal music. The new drummer Eric Morotti is a killer and delivers similar style of play like Dave Culross did on the previous album and the legendary "Despise the Sun EP". Songs are rememberable and brutal. This music is very addictive and very few bands in death metal can do that the way Suffocation do. Songs like Clarity Through Depravation or Return to the Abyss are fucking demonic and evil. Suffocation love what they do and you can hear it in every note. They also continue to rerecord old "Breeding The Spawn" songs (this time it is my beloved Epitaph Of The Credulous). So we have last to songs for the „new“ "Breeding The Spawn" album to be finished (Ornaments Of Decrepancy and Ignorant Deprivation).
















If you love death metal, if you love Suffocation, buy it! It is definitely worth the money and this experience is truly deep and entusiastic. ...Of the Dark Light is one of the best albums Suffocation recorded. It is adequately long (about 35 minutes) so be sure you will enjoy through many listenings. Great work

RECENZE/ REVIEW: Max Corbacho - The Delicate Essence of Solitude (CZ/EN)

CZ:       Nějaký čas jsme čekali na nové album Maxe Corbacha a tato pauza skutečně zvýšila zvědavost nejednoho fanouška. Nejistota se rozplynula před pár dny, kdy Max ohlásil vydání nového alba „The Delicate Essence of Solitude“. Max Corbacho si vždy držel velmi vysokou úroveň svojí produkce a psychologickou rafinovanost svých ambientních alb. Nové album překonává všechna očekávání.        Album vznikalo v letech 2019 až 2024. Fanoušci jeho hudby preferují různá alba. Autor této recenze řadí hodně vysoko především alba „oceánická“, kam bychom mohli samozřejmě zařadit „The Ocean Inside“, „Horizon Matrix“ a především magickou desku „Source of Present“. Hluboké syntezátorové nádechy a výdechy spojené s ohromujícími harmonickými texturami jsou největší devízou nového alba.      Novinka obsahuje šest poměrně rozličných kompozic.
